In contrast to trademarks, domain names or designs, our services in relation to patent law and the protection of trade secrets are confined solely to the provision of legal advice and representing our clients in litigation. Technical questions are examined and assessed together with experienced patent attorneys.

As part of the legal advice we elaborate strategies, either for protecting confidential technical know-how or inventions appropriately or for enforcing rights to or arising from a granted patent or to defend against attacks arising from third party patents. In enforcing claims arising from the infringement of trade secrets, we advise our clients before civil and criminal courts.

When it comes to applying for a patent, we work closely together with specialized patent attorney firms in Switzerland and abroad.

Patents can be assigned in Switzerland and abroad. We assist in both preparing and acquiring the necessary agreements and other documents whilst also ensuring that assignments are recorded in the relevant registers.

If a patent is (also) to be used by third parties or if you wish to use the patent belonging to a third party, we draw up the necessary licensing agreements.

Patent disputes can be resolved in certain circumstances by reaching a settlement and we assist in negotiating these types of agreement.

If third parties infringe patent rights or agreements associated with these rights, or if you are alleged to have committed a corresponding infringement, our team of experienced patent attorneys will litigate on your behalf in particular before the Federal Patent Court in St. Gallen and, depending upon specific jurisdictions, also before a different ordinary civil court or commercial court or before arbitration tribunals. Our network of associates around the world enables us to coordinate international disputes.
